Both Lane Chandler and Hal Taliaferro (as Wally Wales) were starring in cowboy films during the period when film converted from silents to sound (late 1920s-early 1930s). Neither could maintain their starring status, and both migrated to supporting roles and character parts in hundreds of films and TV shows.
